Hi to all of you,
i’m an old electronic musician, and i used to have several amigas in my music studio back in the 90’s. This summer, with some cleaning of my storage house, i found back all my miggies…well preserved !!! I decided i will fully setup one to put back in my studio. The thing is to collaborate with other gears and use the amiga as i want, i would need to connect some external boards and devices to it and all that things couldn’t fit inside the standard 1200 case.
So i’m building a 3U rack (19″) case to integrate all the mess and it would fit:
A1200 MB with kickstarts 3.1.4 / Blizzard 1230 IV with 128Mo RAM / Fast ATA MkV / Indivision MK2 / RapidRoad USB / Sum Keyboard + PC-Key 1200 (to have both usb & ps2 available) / double joystick and mouse extension (to have both usb & ps2 available together with 2 joysticks) / Amigakit Power Supply / CD-ROM drive / double CF card reader / Gotek DF0 / External DF1 / DSS8 sampler serial board / Midi Pro Parallel Board / PCMCIA easynet board.
Of course all the connectors will be extended from the inside of the case to the front and back panels. Design is planned like this:
Front Panel : CD-Rom / Double CF reader / Gotek / FD1 Floppy / A1200 triple leds / Double DB9 for joysticks / Double USB for pendrives.
Back Panel: Power plug + switch / DVI output / Ethernet RJ-45 / Mouse USB+PS2 / Keyboard USB+PS2 / double RCA audio out / double RCA audio in (sampler) / 4 midi ports.
For now everything seems to work well , except easynet board that is not installed yet. I also didn’t test yet the sampler and midi boards, but at least no conflict with them… The Fast ATA apparently works with 3.1.4 kickstart, i was afraid not because of the new scsi.device library in 3.1.4 could conflict with >4Gb recognition in the Fast ATA. Anyway, the hardware setup is soon to be finished, i will now put some time on arranging things inside the case and panels.
Will post a picture when it’s all inside at least…thanks for reading.
